Florida Everblades:
|
|||||||
|
Florida Everblades’ hockey games are an even shorter distance to travel from Englewood.
It may not be the National Hockey League, but this minor professional hockey team plays an exciting, fast-paced brand of hockey. I really enjoy watching junior hockey and minor professional hockey games.
Why do I like this brand of hockey? The reason is really quite simple. The games are played at a fast pace and the action is almost non-stop. Oh yes! There is another reason the competitive nature of the East Coast Hockey League is really quite intense.
The players who skate for the Everblades and their opponents are mostly young players trying to make their way up the ladder of professional hockey to the NHL. That is why the action is fast and furious as each player strives to prove that he should be skating for a big league team.
The other exciting aspect of watching an ECHL game is that when one or more of the players finally does make it to the NHL you can say “I saw them playing with the Everblades, and I had a feeling that they would make it to the big league.”
There are many graduates of the Everblades who have made it to the National Hockey League and fulfilled their dream of playing hockey in the world’s best hockey league. Among these successful graduates are veteran defenseman Shane Hnidy and Carolina Hurricanes speedy forward Chad Larose.
The Florida Everblades are a farm team for the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes. This means that some of Carolina’s top amateur draft picks play for the Everblades each season honing their hockey skills in order to make the jump to the Canes.

The great hockey action and the outstanding venue have helped the Everblades lead the ECHL in attendance in five of the last seven seasons. (Who said Florida and hockey don't go together!)

To see the Everblades in action, the driving directions are simple.Just follow I-75 south towards Fort Myers and Naples.
Estero is about 65 miles from Englewood and is located approximately half way between Fort Myers and Naples.
Your driving time from Englewood to the arena will be just over an hour.
Why not make it a day trip! Leave Englewood in the mid-morning or after lunch. Stop along the way and enjoy some of the many Florida shopping venues, such as the outlet stores, flea markets or shopping centers that can be found in the area. Or, book a tee time at one of the many great Gulf Coast courses that are to found in the area. Before the game enjoy a tasty meal at a local eatery. After the game, a short drive of just over an hour will get home in time for a good night’s sleep after enjoying a day on Florida’s wonderful Gulf Coast region!
Being able to see fast-paced, action-packed hockey games played by the Florida Everblades, so close to your Florida vacation or retirement destination is just another reason why we Enjoy Englewood Florida!
