Florida Golf Courses: Lemon Bay Golf Club

golfer clipartA Florida golf package can be a great way to plan a vacation. There are a wide range of Florida golf courses to challenge and delight golfers of all levels of capabilities. But, there is one Englewood golf course that takes the birdies and eagles of the game of golf to an altogether different level.

The Lemon Bay Golf Club is an Audubon sanctioned golf course. Consequently, you do not have to be a great golfer to see a birdie or even an eagle during your round of golf. After all, there are flocks of exotic birds to be seen around the golf course. The majestic American Bald Eagle is among the feathered residents of the golf course. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of this fabulous creature as you make you way around this lush golf course.

The Lemon Bay Golf Club is a private golf course, but it is also open to the public. Are you totally confused? Well the reason for this two-sided answer is simple. During the winter months the course is open to membership play. But, from May through September, the golf course is open for public golf. This unique blend of membership and public green fees for part of the season allows many more golfers to experience the challenge and the beauty of this mature golf course and nature preserve.

The wildness of the area is also illustrated by the directions to the Lemon Bay Golf Club on their website:

- At the intersection of Placida Road and Rotonda Blvd. West, take a dog leg west on to Eagle Preserve Drive.

- The entrance is about 1/10th of a mile.

(Then the website cautions)

“Look out for the gators crossing the road, and we’re not kidding.”

If you want to work on your golf game, either before or after your round of golf, there is a large driving range facility available.

If you are contemplating a round of golf on this golf course advance tee times are recommended.

The Lemon Bay Golf Club is just another reason why you just have to Enjoy Englewood Florida!
